I have 2 adult male ACF in a 20 gallon long tank, filtered, sand substrate, and artificial plants.
Mose is 3 years old. I have had him since he was a froglet and have had no serious issues with his health. Kevin is my albino male. He was a Craigslist find, so his age is uncertain but I've had him for a year with no health problems.
Yesterday, I noticed someone had shed their skin and left it floating around the tank. Today I noticed Mose has tiny, pimple like dots all over his body. I have never seen him like this before. Is it anything to be concerned about? My tank is due for its weekly water change...will that have an effect on Mose's condition? The bumps don't seem to bother him and his activity level and appetite are the same.
I attached 2 pictures. Mose is my wild colored ACF with the bumps. Kevin is my albino, for comparison. Hopefully the photos are clear enough to be of use!
Thank you in advance for any help.
Have you changed anything in enclosure, maintenance gear, or foods lately? Can you test water for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates? Thank you !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Nothing has been changed lately. I will try to get a sample of water to the pet store for testing this weekend.
Just wanted to give an update on Mose. After the weekly water change, he was back to normal. I'm guessing it was either a water quality issue, or he just had a rough shed. It's two weeks later and both frogs are doing well.
