I just set up a new tank but I'm wondering how long the tank needs to run before I can add my frogs
I will have some fire belly toads and some Rosie red minnows I'm using the tetra fauna viquarium
Need to add dechlorinator to tap water and can add frogs. Do 10% water change daily with same temperature dechlorinated tap until the filter cycles. That will normally take 30 days; but can be halved by using Seachem Stability or similar products.
Recommend not add fish to water area. Toxins from FBT's will stress them out and even kill them. Also, Rosy Reds have an enzime called Thiaminase that will interfere with the uptake of vitamin B1 in your FBTs should they eat any, and probably will. More info on FBT care in here: Frog Forum - Fire-Bellied Toad Care and Breeding - Bombina orientalis and relatives. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Bottled waters are made to satisfy city code requirements and that does not make them safe for frogs and could even be chlorinated. Myself feel safer with treated (Seachem Prime or ExoTerra aquatize) tap than using any kind of bottled water. Only use distilled water for misting too.
