Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Hi there Kelvin, The best way to breed your FBTs is to use a rain chamber. This will not only make it easier for you to keep the tadpoles later on but it will help to stimulate the toads to breed. A rain chamber is a tank with some aquatic plants and decor breaking the surface of the water usually with a water pump to stimulate the rain. Ive bred my FBTs without the water pump only with a period of cooling and lighting schedules changed.
If you succeed in breeding your toads, you will most likely see 30-120 eggs on the bottom of the tank. at this time, the toads should be put back into their original enclosure. After the tadpoles have hatched they will lay motionless on the bottom or the side of the tank for a day or sometimes more. Don't panic!! this is completely normal, the tads are absorbing the yolk from the egg. The tads should start to move around after a few days but should be fed after one week of being in the rain chamber.
Filtration? its best to have no filtration when the tadpoles are in their early stages, feed frozen-boiled lettuce (not iceberg) before they get their back legs. After you start to see limbs popping out, start feeding high quality fish food rich in carrotines, this will make the tad's bellies bright after they emerge from the water. I hope you are successful in your attempt to breed your frogs!
