Wasn't sure I was quite ready for another kitty, but my blind kitty is very lonely when we are gone. He's barely been eating. Triscuit is a 1 year old female, very gentle. She was a stray that the humane society picked up. We fell in love with her immediately. I can't wait to bring her home!!

Aww have fun with the search, Bill. I wasn't really "looking" but I did know my blind kitty needed a companion. I saw her at petco for the first time two weeks ago, again last Saturday, and when she was still there weds, I set up a meeting and filled out an application. Did a lot of talking to the people at the humane society because it's tricky with a handicap cat at home. Today I was called and approved, so tomorrow she is ours.

Honestly, I'd have preferred a dog, but my daughter is very very allergic. She's allergic to cats too, but seems to have no issues so long as they stay out of her bedroom and she takes zyrtec. Dogs give her hives...so I will not have another dog until she's moved out lol

We have lost many animals over the last 5 years. 3 cats (ages 20, 21, and 15) and my lab (15) so I really didn't want another eventual loss, but the joy of pets can overcome the hurt of loss I think.

I agree that the joy a pet can give you beats out the loss from their death, especially if they were given a long happy life. I'm sorry for your losees. I bet she'll make a great companion for both your family and your blind cat

Thanks, Josh. I'm still grieving over the sudden illness and death of my last kitty, but I'm finally to the point I can talk about him without tears and remember him with a smile. So I think this will work well.

Sorry to disappoint, Carlos! Debating on one more red eye either this fall or next spring, then I'll share a frog pic I was just so excited about our new kitty that I had to share!

So far the two cats have not been introduced beyond some hissing at the door. She went for a vet check and has parasites (and the vet didn't think it was necessary to test again because she was treated for them already at the humane society!) She is being treated with panacur and flagyl right now. I also noticed a lot of squinting with one of her eyes and this morning it appeared to be infected, so she will be back to the vet. Sometimes owning pets is never simple! She is such a sweetheart though. A lot of energy...not used to this after having elderly or blind animals for the last several years LOL

Sad that your new kitty has some issues, but happy she is an excellent home and will be well taken care of now. it's always a gamble with a rescue, but SO rewarding in the long run.
