I recently had posted about her color change and talked to another ACF owner who told me she could possibly be a piebald. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
No insight to shed, sorry--but what a beautiful froggy!!!
She doesn't seem to be shedding though at all.
Oh sorry, I meant I personally can't shed any light on your question!
Oh ha ha I thought I might have misread that. I'm looking up herpetologists right now that may be able to answer my question. Hopefully I find out soon
A piebald animal has areas of not pigmented, usually white skin. Your ACF has an attractive unusual pattern; but since the light areas appear yellowish, not sure if calling it a piebald is correct .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Do you have any more photos?
Based on this one pic it's a little hard to be sure. But my first thought is yes, piebald. The areas of no pigment will appear yellow, this is expected. Piebald frogs have really varied patterns. I've seen some with almost 50:50 pigment/albino. Others have blotchy areas of pigment. Yours has a nice unique pattern.
My piebald fellow has spinal and limb deformities. His spine is twisted and his limbs on one side are shorter. Since he is twisted, he spins when he tries to swim and ends up floating in the plants at the top. He needs to be handfed, but other than that he does alright for himself.
Deformities are common with piebalds. If yours seems healthy so far then it should be fine. Congrats on the rare find!
I can upload more photos of her in a few. She doesn't seem to have any deformities and I scoped her out to see if she did to help determine whether or not she is a piebald. Your piebald has been the only one I've found online that would lead me to believe she is one.
Oops uploaded same one twice. Here's another. It's harder to see her in the tank that's why I took her out.
Either way it's a really good looking frog, congratulations.
Nice to see you on here too! (Jenna from facebook)
I would classify her as a piebald, her markings are quite similar to the boys I had.
