    Some more information
One of the two tadpoles I got died a week after I got them the remaining one (my daughter named him Casper) is now about 3 inches long and the water temperature is 72° F. I have him in a 3 gallon plastic tank with a Tetra 3 in 1 in tank filter (small) with gravel (10 lbs) in a slope and I have been feeding him the granulated tadpole food

Hello and welcome to FF ! Those look like Bullfrog tads. What is their current size? You can also add to their diet boiled lettuce and any vegetarian fish flake food. Wondering what affected other tad; what water are you using for them? Is it dechlorinated tap?

I am using the pre dechlorinated water from the pet store now, originally I was using dechlorinated tap and I didn't have a filter at first either, oh and the plants in the tank are fake. I am considering getting a 10 gallon tank and I got a heater for the water but am worried as to whether or not I should use it, what temp should it be?

The gentleman at the pet store said to raise the temp to 78-80 to get them to start metamorphosing, did he not know what he was talking about? BTW this is the same person who told he didn't know what kind they were.

I don't think that the tympanum is visible until metamorphosis? The tad is looking bullfrog to me. They have a tube on the side of their heads that expels water. Might be what that is

I agree, he has been getting more frog shaped in the past few days, his head is a lot less round, I don't know if this means anything :P
