Hello all,
I recently upgraded my african clawed frog to a 20gal planted tank. He has a Fluval 306 filter (rated for 70 gallons) and water looks great, but I know little about water changes, etc, and would like to make sure he is living in the quality environment he deserves.
Can anyone point me to a tank maintenance resource, or give me a sample of their maintenance schedule?
I haven't done a water change since he moved in about a week and some change ago, but noted on another site that some people change 30% every week. I do suck up whatever he doesn't eat with a turkey baster about 1 hr after I feed him in little terra cotta dishes but honestly, i can't keep up with the sheer amount of detritus he creates on his driftwood and his river rock substrate. The tank is full of plants and driftwood and rocks now so scrubbing it all the time would be a huge PITA.
Would shrimp help a bit?
Thanks!
