Hello. I am new to this forum and I have already learned so much about ACF by reading past posts in forums and researching them online. I haven't been able to figure why my albino female (Florence) has begun to change colors. Her eating habits are normal and she's still a very active frog. The color change has been increasing over the past month. Any help and information is greatly appreciated. My thought were my be she's ready to mate.
Your frog doesn't appear to be an albino. This is the probable explanation for the colour change: Pigments cells respond to hormones: African clawed frog - AskNature
I will purchase this frog if you will sell it?! Paypal ready!
Hi welcome aboard! Color changes are mostly due to hormonal changes or changing water conditions.
Any updates on her? Has she changed color again or has she retained it?
She has changed a little bit more but the same spots of the whitish color are still showing through.
So if her color is changing due to water conditions or hormonal changes what does that mean? If it's hormones does it mean she is reaching secular maturity or what? I'm still fairly new to acf ownership. She has went through a significant color change since I bought her. Going from almost a solid pearl color to what she is now. If it's water what does that mean? Sorry for all the questions. I'm eager to know all I can about my pets.
It could just be growth hormones. Have you tested the water quality and seen any changes? It is possible that she is reaching maturity
