A friend just gave me what I think is a 30g Breeder (36*18h*12d) and Im putting my frogs in it. I will be making a foam background like my last tank and that will also be half water with the plexiglass divider. My questions are since it is 3ft long it has that black brace in the middle. Is there anyway to remove that so its not in the way while Im foaming? Also there is some brown what im assuming is algae on it that has dried since the tank was emptied. What is the best thing to remove that?
Thanks![]()
If you remove the brace, tank will not be able to function as an aquarium anymore. Filling it with water could cause a total failure. How many inches of water do you plan to fill it with. If over 25% height; think glass might bow out and this will create leaks.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Well I dont know if I can even do water at all know with this on the back of the tank. I was gonna do about 4-5 inches![]()
The chips seem to be shallow. I wonder if I can still use this tank?
I agree with carlos, if it had a center brace, and it's gone, it will now with water in it above 25-50%. As far as the chip, there's only one way to know if it holds water. I would definitely do that test outside lol

But if the water is not going to be as high as the chip does it matter? Where the chip is will be covered with foam for the background
Oh, then you should be good.

Most tanks are done with 3 walls covered. What kind of frog? Sometimes a water dish is easier for maintenance. But some frogs prefer a bit of depth to their water, like mossies.

Fire bellies and maybe 1 other frog I haven't decided on
Mixing species is highly discouraged if that's what you're attempting.

I know it is. I really dont care. Ive done it in the past with no issues
that is really sad that you would put you animals in that situation. some frogs react badly to toxins from other frogs. Please consider doing only one species.

Ive done it successfully in the past. So thank you for your concern but it should not be any of yours.
Ok... Or shall I say it is NOT ok.
Too sad you don't care about the health and stress levels of your frogs.. Too sad it doesn't concern you.
it does however concern us, we love and care for the frogs. We don't support here unproper husbandry like you are planning on providing.
we also don't support the way you communicate to the members, consider this as a warning.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Because I thanked her for her concern but assured her that it shouldn't be her concern... okay... I've done multiple attempts with this and my animals showed no negative signs at all. You have no solid proof that its harmful to them. People having bad experiences with it does not mean you get to discredit my experience with it because I haven't had a problem
let me remind you when you registered for a forum you have read and agreed on our terms of use. Perhaps you should review them again.
It is not about bad experience with Multispecies people are having. It is constant stress and heath issues for said animals, especially in a long run. It is not just practical experience, but scientific proof to that. Honestly it was discussed so many times before, I don't want to get in depths on the matter.
Im here to keep peace, and to remind you of appropriate communication manners on a forum needed to keep this place enjoyable for everyone.

I didnt communicate improperly with anyone. The last time I checked saying thanks for your concern but no thanks wasn't disturbing the "peace"
that was not true i'm afraid. what you didn't realise is that the other frog would have been accumulating toxins in the membrane(skin) and would definitely have been in no perfect condition to thrive successfully. if and when you cleansed the enclosure you would have noticed the scum that manifests itself on the (pond) glass which is quite slimy, yes. this covered the other frog too, so ..........
the size of viv you have now would suit four adult sized OFBT's which is all you need for the enjoyment of watching these active frogs
when dividing the tank use glass instead for a good seal and put it at an angle for effect to give you a 40/60 water/land ratio with a pool depth of 5" which serves to appeal to each toads demeanor on terrain preference.
good luck with the build.
I don't have any way to cut the glass to size thoughcan I use the plexiglass glass at an angle?
