Hey everyone,
I just ordered some Exo Terra Plantation Soil and plan on a little tank renovation when that gets here. I want to give him plenty of burrowing room so I am looking for recommendations on how deep I should make the soil. Also this comes in bricks which I will rehydrate in dechlorinated water but I'm wondering how wet I should keep the soil for burrowing? I've read that with Toads they should have an area that is dry so I'll probably do a 50/50 split with wet soil vs. dry. Its a 10 gallon tank BTW. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks!
Here is my set-up. I have that log hut, $5 or so at petsmart, sturdy water stone dish, $9, and a rock in the tank along with a few inches of coconut fiber. Hope this helps. Mines also a 10 gallon. I feed my toad about every day to every other day depending on how much he eats. I feed him crickets, potato bugs, beetles, worms, and any insects basically. You can also mist the tank 1-2 times every day. Hope this helps!!! Feel free to pm me and send me pics of your tank or tanks. Good luck.
Here is a toad care sheet for you...

The substrate should be moist, wet, but not soppy or muddy. A couple of inches is fine for depth.
Cover the back and two sides of the tank to decrease his stress. You can add a nice smooth-edged large leafed plant for shade. They love to his and peek their heads out.
