Ok, first I'm brand new to this forum and hope to have a great experience. I want to get a frog and I've decided on two, the Grey tree frog and the Green tree frog. I wanted to know if they are active because I'm looking for an active, fun, and easy to care for tree frog. Also, if I did get a frog, how would I clean the tank? I've heard chemicals can kill the frog. Would a rag of hot water work? I also wanted to know if anyone would recommend a substrate for those frogs. Note: I have no experience with frogs but I have done a lot of research on both frogs. Thanks!

Hello, Minemaster, welcome to the frog forum!!
As you may or may not know, you should never keep two species of frogs in the same tank, if that's what you're planning
Both species are easy fun and active-at night. Yes, most if not all tree frogs are nocturnal. They will not be doing much during the day.
The frog should be put in a quarantine enclosure for at least 30 days. It should include
-damp unprinted paper towels as substrate
-a shallow water dish
-a place to hide
-something to climb on.
After the QT period, you can use ABG mix for planted tanks and coco fiber for non planted tanks
Litoria caerulea 1.1.0 (White's Tree Frog)
Lampropeltis triangulum hondurensis 0.1.0 (Anerythristic Honduran Milk Snake) Tliltocatl albopilosus 0.0.2 (Curly Hair Tarantula)
Aphonopelma hentzi 0.0.1 (Texas Brown Tarantula)
Avicularia avicularia 0.0.2 (Pinktoe Tarantula)
Brachypelma smithi ex. annitha 0.0.1 (Mexican Giant Red Knee Tarantula) Monocentropus balfouri 0.0.2 (Socotra Island Blue Baboon Tarantula)
Harpactira pulchripes 0.0.1 (Golden Blue Leg Baboon Tarantula)
Of course I wouldn't put them in the same enclosure I'm just asking what frog I should get. Also, can someone answer my question about cleaning? That is my main question.
I do regular cleanings on my Red Eye Tree frog tanks using paper towels and water. I actually will just mist the walls with the normal water I mist with and then wipe them down good. If it is particularly nasty I might use some warm water to help break the gunk up, but typically that isn't needed.
Also to add. Tree frogs will want a tall enclosure. 24" height should be the minimum. The smallest size tank I recommend for one tree frog is an 18x18x24. Tree frogs will spend little to no time on the substrate. You can even leave the bottom of the tank lined with unprinted damp paper towels that you change out every couple of days if you want.
Regardless if you use ABG mix or another substrate soil you will want to cover the soil with Leaf Liter to help keep your frogs clean of soil should they venture the the Vivarium floor.
Bowl feeding tree frogs is also recommended. Simply place a pyrex glass bowl that has at list a minimum of 2" high sides in the tank. Add crickets with your supplement of choice dusted over them. If you have questions about supplements than below is a rough guide.
RepCal Calcium with D3 - 3 to 4 times a week
Repashy Supervite - 1 time a week.
You could also opt for the Repashy Calcium Plus and simply use that one supplement every day instead of the other 2.

Hello and welcome to FF. When I read your 1st post also thought plan was to keep those 2 species together
.
To clean a tank before adding frogs you would use a 10% bleach solution in new sponge. Leave it in contact for 10 minutes, rinse thoroughly, prepare 4X dechlorinator solution and apply with sponge, then rinse again and let air dry overnight. Afterwards dechlorinated water will do.
IRT which species; here are two articles for you to read: Frog Forum - Choosing a Frog and Frog Forum - Gray Tree Frog Care and Breeding. Which Green Tree frog are we discussing, the smaller American Green Tree Frog or the larger Australian also known as White's?
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
The American green tree frog and I'll check out the links

Thank you so much for the link! I was wondering if I could use a heating pad instead of a lamp?
