Default 40g wide: Too short for false bottom w/Green Frogs?

The 40g wide I have is 36"x18"x12". At 12" in height, I don't think I can get away with a false bottom.

If I go with a half and half, I still need to use a shallow false bottom on the terra side for drainage, right?

yup, the only way you could do it would be if you only had a cage carpet at the bottom, as it would be the same as an 18x18x24 with six inches of drainage and soil. If you ever use soil, or even coco fiber, you will need at least 1 1/2" of drainage, and that's not taking into account how much soil or coco fiber would go on top of that.

Actually, it's a 30 gallon tank. A 40 would be 36x18x18ish. To save height, you could do a split tank, like is common with fbt's. Water on one side, plexiglas divider then terrestrial portion on the other side. Then your terrestrial side will be at the same height as the aquatic section.

Sorry, but even with bare glass the tank is too low for any tree frog, even the smaller Green's. You could convert tank by making a side the bottom and that would give you 36 in. height. Look up Paul's thread on his 40G vertical conversion to see if interested .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Converting it to a vertical tank is pretty straight forward. But it will forever be a vertical tank after that . Here is my walk through of how I did my conversion. This is not the end all be all way to do it, but it has worked out great for me so far.
