There is a caresheet on this forum, so if you read that you should get a good idea of all the supplies you'd need. Other than that, the only advice I really have is to get something other than one of those stick-on thermometer/hygrometers, because they are very inaccurate. Also, 40 gallons is WAY too big for even an adult. A 20 gallon is fine for a large adult female, but 10 is sufficient for most adults. For babies, you'll need a 5 gallon or critter-keeper. Or a cage divider for the big tank. They get really stressed when they have too much space.
