Hey guys,
I recently started the process to build my terrarium for some red eyed tree frogs. I've ordered 2 exo-terra large/tall terrariums and I plan on taking the glass of the side and joining them together. I know when they move they will be flimsy but I plan on mounting them onto some wooden platform. Ok so, I was planning on having a waterfall and a pond along with a stream.
That's a rough plan so far. Any advice or criticism is welcomed.
Thanks guys.
Wouldn't it be cheaper and more stable to just have a custom tank made the size you want.
To take the side off an exo terra you will need to cut the frame. This will make the doors on the tank either fall off or be very easily knocked off. I would advise you to take a moment and consider that you are thinking of modifying over $600 worth of tank..... I wouldn't do it, but take pictures if you go through with it.
I wont even go into how removing one side will structurally weaken the whole tank..

I hope it works for you, but knowing what I know about tank construction, I see a lot of water in your floor's future
Seriously though, why not just buy a 180 tank? That bottom pane may not seal properly. There's a reason large tanks are a solid piece of glass as the bottom. Right angles are needed to get a good seal. Butt splices normally do not hold. The only way I see it working is if you either add in a basin in the base, or silicone in a pond liner in the base.

Ahhh, forgot to do the math about purchasing a 180cm tank.

Yeh I've been looking for a large tank but cant seem to find one with doors on the front, hence that was my idea but I'm reconsidering now you have mentioned the strength and leak problems. Would a single Exo-Terra large/tall be adequate for 4 frogs?
That should be fine for 4

That's certainly large enough for 4 red eyes. Two of them would be more for 4 White's Tree Frogs. I couldn't even imagine trying to combine two of them
