Yesterday I lost my baby, Finn.I had him in a 2.5 gallon tank with his sister or significant other (not sure which one), Skipp. Finn hasn't really been swimming around lately and I noticed that when I put in enough food for two, only Skipp would eat. I was concerned, but I thought maybe since my husband and I moved in with his in-laws and we had to put them in a smaller tank, that he was just being shy and hiding. And then I found him dead and I was devastated. He was so lively before. He would swim all around, play, and cuddle with Skipp.
So I am wondering something. A few weeks ago the light bulb in their tank went out and I have had the worst luck with finding one in a store that is the size and wattage for their tank. So they don't have an over head light. We put our bedroom light on and you can see in the tank. Could that be the problem? Is that why he died? I don't want Skipp to be next. The only difference is, she's eating and swimming around. She seems fine.
My other question is, will Skipp be okay without Finn? I've had them together for a year. Just the two of them.
