Oh Lordy no, don't put him in the fridge or freezer or dong him on the head. It looks like the most common way is to use Orajel. I am no expert on this, but I would make absolutely sure that it is the best option for the poor little guy, and before you do anything do a lot of research on how much to put on, where exactly to put it, if you need to dilute it etc etc so that your frog doesn't suffer any more than it already has.
You might also want to consider calling or talking to a herp vet (since you can't take him to one) just to be sure you've done everything you can.
