    Default Mixed tank

Hello everyone, I literally joined this forum not 5 minutes ago after lurking for like 4 hours and have a question for you guys if you wouldn't mind helping me out. Back in may I bought two Dendrobates Tinctorius la Fumee from a local reptile expo and they have been doing well. Today there was another expo and I was talking to a vender that had some Lygodactylus Williamsi. I ended up buying one and he is in a separate exo terra I had laying about. He told me that you can keep them with dart frogs. What do you guys think about this? I'm hesitant to add him in with my frogs and any feed back would be awesome.

    Hello Jesse,

    Your hesitation is spot on.
What ever hesitation, reasonableness, and research you have done/read about mixing is all true.
    The simple answer is ........well..........NO

Unless of course you want to give your dwarf gecko a great meal!
Or cause the pretty dart frog a devastating wound that will never heal causing a grueling , painful death.

But you knew all of that....Because you have the intelligence to ask and seek the best information for your frogs !!

Do people do it ?...Yup . Sadly, and it never ends pretty
Shame on the person who sold you the gecko!! ........ bet he doesn't have dart frogs!

I remember being at a show once. I was listening to this exact conversation; except it was the other way around.
( A vendor was refusing to sell a gecko when he was made aware of the buyers plans to put the gecko with PDFs )

BTW - that's a lovely tinc. One of the largest !
I think the varied markings in this morph are fun to see; there are big variations if I'm not mistaken.
    Good luck with them.

Hey Lynn thanks for the reply. I'm glad I didn't put them together, although I doubt that the small little gecko could eat one of my frogs seeing as its smaller then them. Your correct they do look different. One of the frogs has a lot more black then yellow while the other has a lot more yellow to it. I like the differences, lets me tell them apart. I'm not sure of their genders yet but I'm hoping that they are a pair. Hmmm I tried to post a picture but seem to be having trouble with it.

I'm too new here to have any real advice other than geckos and frogs are better in separate tanks in captivity. You really have to be very careful about what you confine together no matter what animals you keep.

Yup. Generally the rule we use is: If you're asking whether you can mix species, you probably shouldn't be mixing them, lol. Only extremely experienced keepers are able to mix species, and you're talking about tanks that are hundreds and thousands of gallons.
I'm glad you did you research and asked, you're already moving in the right direction

I'd love to see your tanks btw

Well I'm not sure if that worked or not but I attached three photos one of the frogs and two of the tank.
Sorry for the bad pictures I just quickly snapped them on my phone.

Thanks I'm currently working on another tank as well. It's not finished yet but when it is I'll post some pictures. Here are a couple from when they were in the "shoe box" like container I had them in.
