What should i use for the flooring on a Waxy Monkey Tank?
I'm using a bare bottom at the moment. But will be switching over to a bio-active sandy soil. For a more natural look.
A lot of people claim that waxies are a big risk for impaction. I don't have much experience with them but this also said about many other species. Imo if you use the correct substrate in the correct environment the risk is very low. The mix I will be using is hard packed. I've used it with other animals that come from the chaco desert.
If no live plants or if they are in pot,s you can use either shredded coco (EcoEarth or Plantation Soil) or couple layers of coco mat (gardening type). If live plants on substrate, then need ABG type soil.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
CarlosExo earth or similar wont work for waxies, in very low humidity these guys need, it will turn into dust and will be causing respiratory problems.
I used to have just piece of green felt and washed it as it got dirty.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
