Strange Blue Film on Water

Those films are usually caused by excess organics in the water. You added frogs which increased the poop and pee from frogs. Increasing the amount of water changes will help until the filter catches up. If filter pads are dirty just clean them in tank water removed during water change. Replacing pads now can bring about a crash and re-cycle in tank. Good luck !

I'll do them twice a week for a while until the filter's all good. How long do you think I should do that for?

Check your Ammonia and Nitrite levels and do increased water changes until they both return to 0. Probably a couple weeks should do .
