    Default Dusting questions

    Howdy! Hope everyone is well.
I have a couple of questions on dusting/vitamins, just wanted to get some input.

I have recently noticed that my Herptivite has a few tiny dark pieces in it that are kind of hard. I don't normally see it just looking in at the container, but have noticed it if I sift a little into the cap or in a plastic container. You can hear it clinking around a little like tiny hard grains of something. Anyone else ever notice this? I just want to be sure I don't have a bad or contaminated batch.

I was looking into some of the Repashy products for my Grays to replace the herptivite, but haven't seen anything yet that offers the same multivitamins as the herptivite. Maybe I'm just not seeing it. But with that being said,
What do you use for calcium and vitamins? Right now I have the Herptivite and Rel-Cal Calcium with D3.

Just curious as to what everyone is using, and if the needs between other frogs are different from Gray Tree Frogs.

    Default Dusting questions

I use rep cal and exo terra multivitamin. At least i did until i ordered some repashy a couple days ago. Hasnt arrived yet though.

As far as i know. Greys need the same vits and calcium as all other frogs.

Joshs frogs has many great supplements. Thats where i get my stuff from.

I dont think that herpivite is supposed to have tiny black pieces in it....i think it may be contaminated

Eli, which Repashy did you order? I've heard very good things about that brand.
I got the Herptivite from Joshs Frogs when I ordered my FF culturing kit. I don't notice the odd pieces when I'm just looking in the container, but when I put it in a cup to dust the FFs, I can see it and hear it. Maybe I'll shoot JF a message and see what they think.
    Thanks for your reply!

I believe it was Repashy Calcium and Repashy Supervite. The supervite had vitamin d so i did not get the calcium plus.

An extra word of advice, when you browse through repashy supplements, you will see repashy "color enhancers". My recommendation is that you shouldn't buy it. I really don't think that putting articial pigments into your frogs food is good. Not saying i think you would buy it but it was a temptation for me and im sure alot of people too.

    Good luck !!

Thanks, I'm checking out the repashy line right now. I see the supervite but not the regular calcium, just calcium plus. Maybe I'm just missing it, I'll look again.
I had no idea they even had color enhancers, lol. Yeah, I'm definitely not into artificial pigmentation. I don't even know if the color gray could actually be vibrant no matter what shade it is. :P

Although myself do not keep tree frogs; all my large frogs get Repashy Calcium Plus with every feeding. It's a complete supplement and have used it in frogs for over a year now with no issues and frogs are healthy. Calcium Plus is a complete supplement developed for daily use. When used separate supplements, I followed these schedules: http://www.frogforum.net/food-feeder...schedules.html.

My daily fed darts and mantellas get the same product 3-4 times a week. They also get Repashy's Calcium 2X and Repashy's Multivitamins !X weekly. And twice a month Repashy Vit A .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

I do a similar rotation to Carlos.

    Mon - RepCal Calcium w/D3
    Tues - Repashy Supervite
    Wed - RepCal Calcium w/D3
    Thurs - Repashy Supervite
    Fri - RepCal Calcium w/D3
    Sat - Repashy Calcium Plus
    Sun - RepCal Calcium w/D3

I may mix in the Cal Plus more often, but I really got it for the Color enhancers it has mixed in with it. I also do Vitamin A twice a month for my frogs that are actively breeding.

    Carlos and Paul,
Thank you for both of your responses.
But I do have a question on your scheduling. I follow the schedule that was provided in the link from Carlos, and I see that both of your schedules include more CA and Vits in a week than the scheduling shows. Is the linked schedule just a baseline, or is your schedules based on different species, such as darts?
    I worry about overdosing.

I did get in touch with someone from Joshs Frog via FB, and they were very helpful. They found the pellets in the container to be a bit odd and unusual, so I pitched the container. They also refunded me the amount of the herptivite, which surprised me, because I wasn't expecting that. Kudos to them for such awesome customer service!

I did order some Repashy Supervite and Calcium Plus and plan to feed according to the normal schedule. But, I did see Allen post that his Calcium Plus has Supervite included in it. Would it be overkill to use both products in the same week?

The schedule in the link is not an end all be all schedule. It is meant to be a guideline for members to follow and build off of.

I don't think it would be over kill, but imo mixing in some pure Calcium with D3 would be best. Carlos uses the Calcium plus more frequently than I do and can speak to how his frogs react to it as a staple.

I have some Rep-cal so I will probably alternate between that and the Calcium Plus during the week. I guess I will just have to see what works.
