Well, ferns did reproduce via seeds millions of years ago. Unfortunately, those are all extinct.
It depends in what your version of an asparagus fern is. I have seen about 7 different cultivars/species of the "asparagus fern"

I am not sure, I have only grown sprengeri before and propagated them from division. I stopped keeping them several years ago because my cat (who passed a couple months ago) was always trying to eat it. I would keep it in the hall, where he wasn't allowed, and he'd still bolt out the door to try to get to it. I know the berries are poisonous, so I never wanted to risk it.Originally Posted by flybyferns
Here are a couple pictures of my Hardy Hibiscus "Midnight Marvel." These can grow in Wisconsin, so long as they are protected. It's planted on the south side of the house, right alongside the house, where the soil stays the warmest. Mulch helps to keep it protected also. Blossoms are about 8 inches across.
