Catching fruit flies for Frog food

Hey everyone,

This is my first post and I wanted some input from the Frog community. I am considering developing a product that is essentially a kitchen bin for food scraps but also doubles as a fruit fly catcher. It will be designed for easy harvesting of the dead fruit flies for use as frog food, fish food, or chicken food. I can't go into detail about how it kills the fruit flies since it's proprietary but it doesn't use chemicals and the dead fruit flies will be free organic fish/frog/chicken food. My question to you is, is this something that you think would actually be useful? Can you see people actually paying money for this product? I am not even sure if frogs will eat dead fruit flies so any input you have would be really useful. Thanks in advance!

Hello! Welcome to the frog forum!!! Frogs do not eat dead stuff. Well a couple of frogs do but they won't pay any attention to the fruit flies. Almost all frogs need to movement to recognize food. Some frogs like cubans, white's and pacmans will even eat from feeding tongs. Just wiggle the food around. Almost all tong feed able frogs also do not eat fruit flies. Sorry

Frogs only eat live food and the fruit flies that are fed to the frogs are flightless.
