i picked up a small tank previously used for salt water fish, I'd like to clean it out and use it for frogs.
How would you recommend me cleaning this out to ensure I have no issues.
thanks!
How big is the tank (LxWxH) and what are you planning to put in it?
2.0.3 Hyla versicolor "Eastern Gray Tree Frogs"
2.2.0 Agalychnis callidryas "Red Eyed Tree Frogs"
0.0.3 Dendrobates auratus "Turquoise and Bronze"
0.0.1 Anaxyrus fowleri "Fowler's Toad"
It depends if tank is plexy or glass. It very important you wear gloves, eye protection, and old clothes! If glass, can use a vinegar soaked scrubber sponge and an algae scraper to help remove any calcium deposits. Rinse well and then go over it with 10% bleach solution soaked scrubber sponge. Let it stand 10 minutes and rinse well again. Then go over it with a 4X strong dechlorinator solution soaked sponge and rinse again. Let it dry overnight and you are done. Can use same steps to clean a glass top if reusing. If tank is plexi, just make sure both the scrubber sponge and tank algae scrapper are for plexi tanks; otherwise you will scratch it. Hope this helps and good luck

Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Its a smaller tank, 15-20 gallons
its been used for Dart Frogs in the past, last used for Saltwater fish.
I would like to use it for a pacman frog.
If interested in a Pacman, recommend read this care article: Frog Forum - Pacman and Horned Frogs - Ceratophrys - Care and Breeding. A 15-20H tank is too big for a Pacman; specially if starting with a baby. If so; recommend an ExoTerra Medium Breeder Box for any baby smaller than 3 in. In there you only need a layer of substrate (shredded coco mixed with dechlorinated tap until clumps in fist without dripping water out) as deep as frog is tall, a water dish filled with dechlorinated tap to frog's chin height, and a silk plant or two. You can place the whole box with frog inside a larger tank since it's easier to maintain temp and humidity parameters that way.
Once frog reaches 3.5 to 4 in. snout to vent length; than you can transfer frog to bigger tank (10G or an ExoTerra Small Medium (18 in. cube). Good luck!

oh by the way, the tank is 14"w x 10"d x 12"h
That size would suit an adult space wise. You can always start a baby in a smaller plastic enclosure placed inside the larger one and release it after it grows up.
