I did show up after closing hours so I'll give them a call tomorrow and ask what it is he gave me but he did say specifically that I had to drop the medication on a cricket or two once a week. I meant to ask why rather than on the frog itself but I was just worried at the time and it slipped my mind. He didn't look like he had any idea what was wrong with the frog but I am 90% certain he said the medication he gave when I was there (not the one I have now) was for stress and neural problems from the circling. Shortly after he administered the medication my frog did start to look a bit drowsy, it hung onto the silk plant but was doing it with one arm. Hope that helps in some way.

    He administered? How?

He probably gave you panacur, it doesnt do anything bad, he might just gave you just to give smth, it is like vit c for people, it might help, it might not lol

if it is panacur it doesnt get absorbed, so the only way to use it is per os ( through the mouth). So you cant drop it on a frog.

you have a frog in quarantine? And properly set up? Did you get electrolytes?

ok look, i gotta go feed kids, be back later. ill be honest, i dont think it is an easy case, but keep trying to help him, it sounds you are really trying, i respect you for that, im just irritated with your vet.

i suggest you do another bath now, with electrolytes again and use declor water again. In general use only dechlor water for everything. You can also use natural spring water, just make sure it is not mineral water.

My other frogs have started eating so I thought I would try with my third but he isn't interested with anything I put near his mouth he just moves away from it. Should I hold him and do this or just keep trying?

I was editing my message, check it out. Electrolytes should be available in any pharmacy, they are used for diarrhea in babies. Leave him be, dont stress out more then absolutely needed.

Ok thank you and thanks for the advice. When you get back can you tell me how much of this electrolyte I should be using? I'll have a look for it tomorrow as everything is closed on Sunday at this time.

    You're welcome!
Just look for solution that is without flavours and colour. There might be powder instead of solution, that is good too, just add water as per directions on a package.

5 parts of water, 1 part of electrolyte solution. Water level no higher then frog chin. Keep for 20 min.

Hi I can't offer any practical advise but I am presuming that the vet you saw was not an exotics vet? You can as the frogs owner ask that they consult with an experienced exotics vet. It is your right to do so if you are unsure or unhappy with the service you received. Manor Vet's (midlands) Manorvets Veterinary Practice 24 Hour Emergency and Critical Care West Midlands has an apparently decent exotics team, the tortoise trust has a list of vets by country, you can ring the practices and see if any vets have knowledge of amphibians. If they do get their name and find out if they would be happy to do a phone consult with your vet. To help get to the problem. I have done this before by pestering my vet to contact and exotic mammal vet to treat one of my guinea pigs, (yep even a guinea pig is apparently and exotic!)

Wow the lengths people go to earn quick cash 0_0 I think I won't bother with the vet unless something else pops up. I know it's a bad idea but I can't afford these insane prices thanks for the advice though, if I ever have to go back to a vet I'll be sure to ask them to contact an experienced exotic vet.

Instead of getting discouraged, take some time and call around to different vets and see if they have an exotic vet on staff or one they consult with. That way, you'll be prepared in case you ever need a vet again

And yes, while we normally think of guinea pigs as a normal domesticated pet, they are an exotic. From South America, I do believe. And here's the real shocking part, they are a food staple there

Lol my grandma told me that once I just ignored her cause she was trying to persuade me not to get one... I got two anyway. I'll be sure to call and look around for an exotic specialist. My mum told me over dinner that there is a pet hospital, or something like that, around but it's not nearby. I might check online later but right now I'll just watch the little guy for a few minutes, he's moving very little might try to feed him again.

I bought some electrolyte and have him lying in it at the moment. He looks like he has grown a bit since yesterday, not sure if that helps, could this just be a case of dehydration? I keep the set up misted but haven't seen him sit in the water dish before. I hope he'll get better soon.

Umm ok I want to know what you guys think cause I went down to the pet shop today and they said I could try feeding my frog bean weevils. I know that they can climb out the tank and they do boom when they breed very quickly so how should I feed them without them getting out? I just thought I might try something different in case he is being a picky eater.
