New Mossy Frogs just got home.

Hi all, Just got 7 baby red Eyes like I said in last post, but also got 7 Mossy frogs to go with them. I was told they haven't eaten since they were packed on Monday or Tuesday, they are looking a bit thin to me, could someone that knows Mossies comment on them pls?

What is the fastest way to get some food into them, I put 2 crickets and a piece of worm in each container and separated them all when I received them. I put them in a dark room right away hoping they will wake up and feed.

They do appear to be thin. Where did you get these from? Are they WC or CB?

The best way to get food int them is set them up properly and feed them. I would suggest allowing crickets to free roam the cage and see if this stimulates a feeding response. Put a piece of food in so the crickets don't chew on the frogs.

Yes forgot to say, these are captive bred frogs that have been raised by the breeder for a year (as far as he said), not sure on the size they should be after a year.

they look thin to me, but otherwise color is good. I hope they start eating for you. Congrats. i hope to have some Mossy frogs one day!

Congrats on the new frogs ! Did breeder who sold them described their care/feeding schedule while at his charge? How old are them and what is their length from snout to vent? The fact that they where placed in a couple day fast before shipping should not reflect in their weight at all. They look thin; but that might be related to age if very young.

I would quarantine them for 30 days and get two fecals done 2 weeks apart during that period. Love Mossys, good luck with them !

These were picked up from a breeder at a show in Alberta by the wholesaler I deal with just for me. I did not get much info from him, I'll try and see if he'll get me the contact info of the breeder next week.

I agree with Carlos. Keep them in quarantine and I'd recommend fecal tests. Hopefully they will eat well for you.

Do you know how to set-up a quarantine tank?

Be sure to remove the moss and just use moist non-printed paper towels as substrate. Change every 1-2 days. Be sure to have a shallow water bowl and fill to belly level with lukewarm dechlorinated water.

Mist the tank twice a day and monitor the humidity in the tank.

Cover the back and two sides of his QT tank to help them feel safe.

you just said in your first post you are putting them with the red eyed tree frogs? i think people here already told you that would be a bad idea. you can end up with dead frogs. i hope that was just a mis-print?

Yeah, I read that as well. I feel like we already voiced our opinion on the other thread which is why I did not bring it up on here.

I said I got 7 red eyed and 7 Mossy, they are both going in separate 90 gallon tanks eventually. For now the tiny red eyed are going in a Exo-Terra 18x18x24, and the mossy frogs I'm not sure, right now they are all separated in tall containers and they all ate 5 crickets last night, I will have to make a temporary bin for the mossy until the 90gal cycles properly.

Glad to hear that they all ate. Mossies can look pretty skinny around the belly but I wouldn't worry too much uf they are eating ok. Just keep feeding them.
