My african bullfrog has been perfect for about 3 months now and still is! He's been eating twice a week on a varied diet and pooping once or twice a week. When I feed him, I also bathe him in treated water so he gets a soak. However, today as I was feeding him he pooped this stringy pink substance and I'm unsure of what it could be. He's on dirt so I can't see how it could be impaction but there's a picture of what I found below. Replys would be appreciated!![]()
Hello abbieish,
Do you have a vet near you that would do a fecal/stool exam for eggs and parasites and a culture for bacteria?
My first concern would be parasites. Very often when they have diarrhea, foul scented stools, or pass tissue shreds, excess mucous, or blood they have either a parasite or an intestinal infection.
Depending on the specific parasite or bacteria, antibiotics and/or antiparasitic medications are likely needed to cure your frog.
Your best bet is to get the feces tested asap so you can start treatment. Intestinal infections will not clear on their own.
Please keep us posted?
Sorry your frog is not feeling well.

Thank you for the advice, I'll get him an appointment straight away!
Good luck!
