Default Burget misting system - How to...

As you know, you have to keep the humidity fairly high in the vivarium, so I been looking at those misting/fog system around.

Well, they cost around $120 here.
Think its a bit heavy price for my small vivarium, but I wanted to add something more efficient than my flower sprayer.

So I went online and to the local stores to find some small nozzle, to make a cheaper alternative.

Almost gave up until I found some nozzles on eBay for around $10.
The kit is used for outdoor garden and flowers.

In the package was 10 small plastic hose, 10 small nozzle sprinklers and some small plastic strips.
Also included was some connection for garden hose.

I used 6 of the nozzles and attached them around the edge of the "roof" of the vivarium.

I made a T connection for a piece of hose that goes out of the viv for adding water to the mist system.

The idea is to add water (and pressure) to the system with a syringe.
A 50 ml syringe gives the best effect.

Here is a short video to show the effect.

(Sorry for the background music ) The video simulates the results of a appr. 1 mm of rain. (200 ml)

Because I have to hold the phone and press on the syringe at the same time, it was difficult to add maximum pressure to show the full effect of a "rain shower", but hope you can see the results.

Very cheap and fictional mist system, easy to make and easy the use!

    Cheers!

If you have questions about making a misting system like this, don't hesitate to ask!

Only thing you need besides the nozzles is a sharp knife..
