My brother wants me to set him up with a nice habitat for some salamanders or newts after we move (he's interested mostly in fire bellied newts) but aside from eastern red spots I have no experience whatsoever, and I only ever had a rescued juvenile who didn't live very long, so I never had to accommodate an adult. He's 13 and wants his own pets he can enjoy caring for and watching, since I am the animal guru in our household he's been dying for something of his own. We've also discussed Axols, but he doesn't seem as interested.
I guess my question would be suggestions for care of fire bellies, if you'd recommend them, and other species you would suggest? He just wants something cool and not too high maintenance (and don't worry, I'll be there to step in where I need to and teach him all he needs to know).
