Hi just wondering what sort of mixture i should use to make a substrate that can hold tunnel systems for a ackie monitor

Since that enclosure will have a dry climate, guess you can use one of those borrowing mixes: Excavator Clay. As long as there is no misting around clay it should be fine .

Monitors of all species need moister to some degree. With ackies, they need it dry above ground and moist in burrows.

Mmmm guess the local pet shop needs to stop using clay for Ackies; sorry for bad info .

My breeder does stuff old school and suggested non pesticidal sand and soil mix in a little sandpit tub
