I'm planning to keep one or a trio of these next month. Has anyone kept them before? I'll be doing a big move by late Septemper and i was wondering if they can be safely fed with mealworms given their voracious appetites and the notorious reputation of causing impactions in big amounts.

Keep in mind the ones I'm getting are bigger than the usual american narrow-mouths (I've seen like 2.5~3" specimens).

Anyways if all else fails, I was thinking maybe i could house them in with a colony of B.lateralis roaches as feeders in one corner with some kind of divider that i could remove to let some roaches loose every other day for them to feed on.

Myself would not feed them mealworms. Since both of those species are burrowers; would offer small earthworms (sized same as frog's SVL or smaller); and insects smaller than distance between frog's eyes .

That's the problem. The only available feeder at the moment are mealies or crickets. I doubt my sister would even come near an earthworm lol. How long do you think it would take for them to safely skip a meal?

Depending on the age and size of the frog. Narrow mouth toad babies will most likely need feeding
every day, so it wont harm them if one day is missed. Adults will need feeding every other day of
small crickets, they will usually consume ants in the wild so its best to use these to ensure that
they have small crickets.
