It looks great! Usually your ABG mix should be at least 3 inches deep, so you may need to order another bag, because it looks more like 2 inches in the picture. I'm not expert though, so I could be wrong.

You? Impatient? I would have had no idea. I still can't start mine. I don't have the tank! I have to wait two weeks, the reptile expo! But anyway its looking nice. What brand of LED light did you buy? I still don't know which light is best

i got it from Petsmart. it is a Marineland LED. there is a switch to make it just blue, or bright. that way i can turn the blue on at night. it was on sale for about $35. normally like $40 i guess. it was in the Fish lighting section. are you going to the White Plains show? i'll be there with a friend.

Good price, I don't see where it says the color temp of the light. You need it to be 6500k for live plants to grow.

i don't think it said on the label. so i guess it's probably not up to par. I won't have very delicate plants in there, anyway. probably pothos and air plants.

Ok good news bad news time. Unfortunately the bad news has 2 parts to it.... So really it's bad news good news and bad news. Which do you want first?

    ....................

I thought I heard you say bad first so that's what I'm doing.

Bad news 1. Any plant that is under artificial light under 6500k will struggle and ultimately die. It's like putting a human in a very low oxygen environment. We can survive for a while but eventually Sylvester Stallone will kill us.

Bad news 2. Your light is to short. Unless some is hiding. You really need the light to span from end to end of the tank.

Good news. Caught it early enough you can return this light and correct the problem.

    Sorry :/

thanks, but it's all bad news bc i took it out of the package and so i don't think i can return it. The tank is not sitting in direct sunlight, but it does get enough for the pothos. idk about the air ferns.

My light is only 4000k (didnt know that was too little at the time :P) and my plants are growing slowly but definitely growing. Especially my fittinia which has clearly grown taller and it has new leaves and stuff growing out of it. Plus my room has the sun shining in it for about 8 hours a day so i gues they akmost get enough light
