Welcome to the forum! Night crawlers are actually more nutritious than crickets i hear. I recommend getting non dyed ones sold at walmart or other chemical free bait shops. Catching outside can bring in parasites or pesticides
. I have also heard that toads do have trouble with night crawlers. Yours sounds like it does not have an issue but cutting up the nightcrawlers may help it get it down
