    Default So excited!

It's the little things.... lol Today was the first day that I noticed a good number of springtails when I poked around a little in my culture so I decided I would finally put a few into the vivarium. I poured water in there and then poured that into a cup and got about 12-20. I could have gotten more, but I figured that would be a good first attempt just in case lol. So the frog seemed to have retired for the night (my plan, so that he wouldn't eat them immediately) but then I saw him in the opposite corner so decided I would have to be trickier. I figured putting them closer to the actual substrate would be better since he might wake up and go hunting.... so I lifted the water dish, and lo and behold there was a BUNCH of springtails! How's that for irony!? I had thought I saw one or two over the last few days, but I found the motherload it seems. I'd say there were at least a couple dozen there, and perhaps more throughout the viv. I added the others anyway, but it's a relief to know that even if my culture isn't booming now I don't have to worry about rushing things since the vivarium took care of itself.

Awesome Alicia! I love finding **** loads of springs! I had a similar thing happen in my first Red Eye tank. I put springs in but never ever saw them. I thought they all died and then one day I went to clean out some poop and turned over a leaf and there were 1000's of them swarming poop and dead things. lol
