Default Help With New American Green Tree Frog Food

    Hello!
I got an American Green Tree Frog yesterday and he is the size of a dime.
Today I went to the pet store and the clerk told me I should get mealworms instead of crickets. So I bought some and tried to feed him this evening. My Frog wouldn't eat! I suppose he could just still be acclimating? Or maybe he's not hungry yet? But the biggest problem I see is that the mealworms are as long as he is! I tried cutting one in half and wiggling it around with tongs, but he still looked disinterested. So, what should I do? Also how often do size-of-dime American Green Tree Frogs eat? Other than eating (and I may just be overreacting ) my little froggy seems to be adjusting well to his new home. He has the right temp, humidity, light, lots of hiding places, and a shallow water dish that he can sit in. Also I mist the tank (but not him) twice daily. Thank you for reading, and any help, suggestions, or advice will be extremely appreciated.
    Thank You so much!
    Frogert ^-^

Hello and welcome to frog forum! Crickets are WAY better than mealworms. The worms have a tough outer shell that is hard to digest. Crickets also move faster and are more likely to get their attention. Remember to always dust with calcium+vitamin d3 every other feeding and a multivitamin powder once a week. Other food options are dubia roaches, nightcrawlers cut to size, or depending on the frogs size, flightless fruit flies. Here is a sheet on their care and and in these initial stages its important to keep a close eye on them. A quarantine tank with damp unprinted paper towels as substrate and only the basic decor is recommended for the first 30 days. Anyway, heres that care sheet American Green Tree Frogs as Pets - Care & Feeding good luck!

Size of a dime would definitely mean you need to feed it fruit flies or pinhead crickets right now. Also needs to be fed daily. Eli has given you great advice.
