Hello friends, my frog Matilda scratched herself on some decor in my tank (she was too fat to fit in it and it nicked both fat pads). Everything was looking good and healing well. I have been treating her with a triple antibiotic ointment that my vet recommended for her small cuts. I checked on her today to put on her ointment and the image below is what I found. She also smells awful, she had a bath yesterday so I’m worried it’s the one wound. It seems like there is something coming out of it, the other one is still healing and looks the same as it did yesterday. But the right one has that weird white thing coming out of it. Is that fat? It goes deep, way past the original scratch. I have cleaned it with warm water and put the ointment on it but I just want to know what it is. My vet is out of town this week so I was wondering if anyone has seen this or agrees that it may be the fat from her fat pad. Here is a picture:
Sorry to hear about your frog. I have a lot of success using Bactine on the wound. Bactine, NOT Betadine is safe for amphibians.

Apply Bactine by swab or spray to the wound twice daily until clear.

Thank you, I used to use bactine all the time but unfortunately they changed the formula to have lidocaine which can cause sever nerve damage in frogs so I can no longer use it. Now the other thing of fat (that’s what I’m just assuming) is coming out and the original one has fallen out. I have never seen this before but she’s in quarantine and I keep using the triple antibiotic. The antibiotic contains the main ingredient in Bactine along with polysporne and neosporne
I think generic antibiotic should be okay if there are no painkillers in it.
