Okay so last night I found a tree frog sitting on my door and when I went to move him so he wouldn't be bothered by my husband and I trying to work on our truck I noticed he was missing an eye. Then he jumped and I then noticed he has a cleft lip and part of his mouth is missing. He is a decent size but REALLY skinny. I set up a tank for him and he seems comfortable but I have no idea how to feed him. I feel really bad for this poor little frog. What can I do? And please no one say anything negative.
he might be able to catch his own crickets if you get some. the space between the frogs eyes is the size cricket- no larger. supervise him with the crix or they can chew on him if left in there alone for too long. also moths are fairly easy to catch and you can see if that interests him.

Okay thank you so much. Once the pet store by me opens for the day I will go
this is him
Not absolutely sure from pic; but it could be a Grey Tree froglet. If so, here is a care guide for it: Frog Forum - Gray Tree Frog Care and Breeding. Main things are to use dechlorinated tap water (Seachem Prime or ExoTerra Aquatize are good) for the water dish (clean daily) and for mixing coco substrate if used.
Crickets should be gut loaded with carrots, lettuce, and cherios 24-48 hours before feeding frog. Remove any uneaten insects next morning (if feeding at night). If frog has open wounds you can apply plain non-analgesic) Neosporin to wound daily until healed. Will need to use supplements, more on that in here: http://www.frogforum.net/food-feeder...schedules.html. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Thank you!!
Are these definitely injuries or is he maybe deformed? These days so many frogs are being found with defects due to pollution of habitatOtherwise my guess is he managed to escape a predator of some kind, poor guy. Good luck with him!

This is an update. The little guy (or girl) is doing great. He is eating and gaining weight. His eye socket isn't swollen anymore. But he is definitely missing an eye. He doesn't seem to care to much tho so I think that he is doing amazing.
are you sure you have a tree frog? if so, you need to remove the water from the tank and just give him a water dish. he'll need to climb.

Oops wrong tank lol that's my tadpole tank
This is the right tank
Much better, I was panicking at the first tank also haha. I would get a branch or two in there, will make him very happy. You may want to remove the substrate and just put in damp, unprinted paper towel for a bit since he is recovering from a potential injury. It's easier to clean up and for observation purposes. Because he is missing an eye, I would make sure you're either tong feeding or bowl feeding him. Do not let the crickets just run loose. The water in the dish should be no deeper than his chin.

I bowl feed him. The water is usually only up to his chin only. And okay I will take the substrate out
Thanks for helping him out!![]()
