Is there something beside that egg crate lighting panel?

I found some but they want 15 bucks a sheet and I dont need that much for the 40 gallon Im building.Plus Im not sure how to make rounded areas with that stuff.

That is the best stuff to use.

You can cut it to be rounded. Just takes some creativity.

I saw people paint on a outside the tank to cover up false bottom, im thinking to do the same on mine, too lazy to go to michaels lol they had a very nice brownish sand looking outdoor paint.

You could use aquarium undergravel filter plates (flat one's by Lee). However; unless on hand already, they will cost more than egg crate .

On the outside, I use black contact paper (shelf paper). Costs about $7/roll at Home Depot

You can use spray paint on the outside of the tank to cover up the false bottom.
