Default Wild Crickets and other insects for frogs?

In my yard, there are a TON of black crickets hopping all over the place. It would be really convenient if could just give my frogs crickets from the backyard............but I read that wild crickets can have diseases, parasites, and other bad things. But is it really that dangerous? Frogs in the wild eat wild insects.
But on the other side I found out that wild crickets are quite nutritious. So I was wondering if anyone had firsthand experience with wild crickets (and other insects I guess) I do feed my frogs crickets from the pet store. But I just wanted to know what others think about this.

Unless the frog is wild and is used to eating those specific crickets then it could be deadly to feed them. The diseases would be too much of a risk. It would be easier and safer i think to buy and maybe even breed store crickets.

i am not convinced that store bought crix are that healthy either. i would not be opposed to it myself, but i would not recommend anyone do it unless they were willing to take a chance.

I wish there was something other than crickets to feed that my frogs would actually eat. I hate crickets. They smell, chirp and arent even that good for the frogs. But every time i feed something different, my female gets all defensive and then wont eat for the rest of the day not even the crickets.

generally wild caught prey items aren't suitable for frogs. IMO would catch and house the black crickets for a week or two then try and feed, but if you feel uncomfortable doing it...don't do it

It depends on what those yard crickets eat. Do your family or neighbors fertilize yard? How about applying seasonal weed killers? And also many homeowners use chemical bug controls?

If the answer to any of those is yes; then skip the yard bugs. Have you ever thought of starting a roach culture bin?
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
