Just recently a friend of mine had to move and couldn't bring his animals. So of course I took them in. He gave to me a 150 gallon terrarium that contained 2 crested geckos, 2 red eyed tree frogs, and a grass snake. They all lived together peacefully the last five years he's had them without a single issue. My issue is one of the tree frogs. I noticed it had white spots all over it's body. I'm sure it's probably stressed due to moving to a new house just two days ago, and possibly the temperature in the house is different. Also I read lots of forums about this same issue so I'm just looking for some input. Any info would be much appreciated.
Hi
Welcome to Frog Forum
Small white , slightly raised, spots are normal.
Prepare yourself for a flood of support information regarding multi-species tanks!
It is always widely agreed upon, actually frowned upon, to house more than one species in an enclosure.
This is EXTREMELY important for the Red Eye Tree frogs !

Hello and welcome to FF ! Hope this helps you with new pets: Frog Forum - Red-Eyed Leaf Frog/Red Eyed Tree Frog Care - Agalychnis callidryas.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Thank you both. Carlos, that was great info you have there. And I'm always ready for more info. I understand it would be best to seperate all the animals , but even after having them together this long, is it absolutely nesasarry to transfer them to new tanks?
i would suggest it for the stress relief of the animals. i raised Crested geckos years ago and they can get big enough to eat a tree frog. even if they don't do it, the fear in the frogs cannot be good for them. and having a snake in there can't be easy either.

Hey you mind posting pics of the snake? Snake/frog setups can be established in the right conditions. But if we are talking about Natrix natrix than there is a high risk that the frogs will become a meal. Just has not happened yet.
so what are you saying Daniel? can i put my pyxie in with my rock python or not? lol
i would be interested in seeing pics as well. i'm always the devil's advocate FOR multispecies tanks, if done properly. so i am very curious to see this one.

An evil Rock with a tank mate? Don't think there is such a thing lol.
Multispecies enclosures are indeed amazing if done right. Unfortunately though it usually isn't and the owners often times get lucky with no problems for a while and think they're in the clear (Not talking about the OP but in general). I've seen some very successful Emerald Tree Boa/ Dendro enclosures. And that is one I wouldn't mind trying.

I wouldn't mind trying dendros or mantellas with L. williamsi. Can't find them though lol.
Interesting thread regarding frogs and snakes, Ive seen in several zoos with boas and pythons dart frogs mixed in, the needs of the snake were made with the water dish and hide while the entire tank had terrarium plants. Ive seen Phylobates terrebilis and a boa constrictor housed together and in another enclosure Dendrobates auratus with colombian rainbow boas. Seems like an interesting mix

Concerning having different species snakes together, well mine have been together for over a year now. At first they were separated in different tanks, but my female corn snake was freaking out shortly after I brought my male python home. She went crazy enough to the point where she laid eggs! So my wife and I went ahead and put them both together in the same cage and they have been inseparable ever since.
And some pics of the geckos
I couldn't find my grass snake in the large terrarium but here's a pic of what it looks like
i still believe they are all better off separate.

There isnt enough height for the red eyes. They are obviously arboreal and need lots of space to climb around.

OK, that is a smooth green snake (Opheodrys vernalis). They eat invertebrates.
While I think your other enclosure is very suitable for a multi-species enclosure, I'm not liking this one. First BP's need high humidity (60%+). You can not get such high humidity in an open screen fish tank especially with a heat bulb. I also don't feel like the enclosure provides enough cover for the snakes to escape each other. I would suggest adding a sand/soil mix to allow both the corn and ball to burrow.
