What is proper hand feeding technique?

I am a new owner to a pair of FBT. I wonder what is the proper way to hand feed frogs. I personally consider human hands to be a contamination threat to my aquariums. I heard of people using tongs but where would I find such a product. I have more questions following a response. Thanks

Plastic or metal tongs with rounded ends work fine. I don't think human hands are a contaminant if you wash your hands prior with hot water.

Hello and welcome to FF ! As long as you wash your hands in hot soapy water and rinse in dechlorinated tap before entering any enclosure; it will be fine. You can also use throw away gloves, they come cheap if bought by the thousands.

Still, do not recommend bare hand feeding frogs, some bite, some are toxic, and most are stressed out by it. As Michael mentioned, can get feeding tongs (plastic or SS with plastic tips) at pet shop's reptile area. Myself tong feed the larger frogs; but would not try it on smaller ones. Mainly it's an issue of handling a tiny wriggling food piece in a large plastic tipped tweezer .

I have found SS tongs and the reason I plan to use them is when I vitamin dust the crickets most of them end up rinsing off in the water before being eaten. So far the FBT only hide in the corner behind the HOB water filter. Should the water for amphibians be cycled like an aquarium? I used seachem prime to dechlorinate before adding to the terrarium and let it all run 2 days before adding frogs. They still don't seem as active as described. I'm not bugging them and trying to think of what is making them uncomfortable. The temperature is 78 in the water I believe that is more accurately the ambient temp. Its around 75 here in Ohio and I'm not running AC or anything. These guys are huddled up in the corner for 5 hours since introduction. Should I be concerned?

I am mostly concerned with the fact the crickets that have been dusted spread the vitamin powder all over the terrarium and in the water. I assume that's not a good thing (it certainly doesn't look good). I don't use the feeding tongs in between vitamin feedings.
