i have raised 2 Gray tree frog tadpoles and one has been a frog for a week+, the other just morphed yesterday, he was climbing the enclosure. I took all the water out, i put a water bowl in with a bit of plastic ladder type thing so bugs can crawl up out of the water bowl. i put a pothos plant in the enclosure, with a water reservoir for the plant. I knew he would not eat for another week, and i wanted to give him a safe hiding area. Well he got under the plant, and into the reservoir, and he drowned. I feel horrible. i learned a hard lesson, and i'm so sad. i had him as a tadpole his entire life, and i did everything possible to ensure he would be ok. and then i go and do something very stupid. I should have known better. so i only have the one now, but maybe i'll find some froglets are the hamburg show on saturday.

I'm sorry for your loss! It's hard to make a mistake that ultimately leads to the death of your frog. You are not alone though, even experienced keepers cannot always predict what their frogs will get into. That's why, if you read through threads, you'll see something about a frog escaping a new viv and etc. Do not beat yourself up. Remember though, if you get a new frog, keep it in quarantine for a minimum of 30 days so that you're sure of his/her health before introducing it to your other baby. Make sure they are similar sizes also before putting them together.
I was doing some googling, and it looks as if PA has the same laws as WI and you will not be able to purchase a grey tree frog at the show. You may want to look into this better, I just did a quick search. Your best bet may be finding another newly morphed grey tree frog or tad.

Yup, Amy is correct. I had 2 r. Imitator 'varadero' escape on me. Never to be seen again. All we can do is learn from our mistakes and move forward.
PA doesn't allow the sale of gray's, but, legally, with a fishing license, you can legally catch a certain number per day, as long as you don't use an arrow, firearm, or trident. (I swear, trident is in the fishing license booklet!!)

If you look around pond areas, you should find some new morphs making their way out of the water. We've had hundreds of baby toads come out now and the spring peepers are starting to morph. The greys should be coming out soon.

these came from my neighbors pool cover. I don't have a pond nearby. I wonder is it legal to buy them from a place like LLLreptile?

You can purchase them from out of state. If you can find a supplier. Not a lot of people sell them because they are native and legal to catch in most states.

You could post on craigslist and see what happens too. This time of the year, a lot of people are overwhelmed with new morphs from the tadpoles they got carried away with collecting. That's how I got 3 of my greys. Someone went a little too "rescue" happy on his job site and had more than he could handle. I was offered more by a woman whose daughter raised a bunch of tads and they had more than they could handle as they morphed. It's worth a try.

All newly morphed non-aquatic frogs should be kept in damp unprinted paper towels. If a water dish is available; it should be filled no deeper than the frog's chin. Once frogs are stronger (around a month old) you can move them to regular enclosure . The same applies to toads.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
my neighbor was kind enough to donate one of her baby frogs to me. It is the same size as my guy but keeping them separate for a while. new guy is a bit thin, i am feeding him now and hopeful he will eat. She had 5 babies in the same enclosure and a lot of hiding places, so she did not know if some were getting any food. i told her how to keep them, so now she will know if they are eating for her. headed to petco to check out exto terras.
