Ok so riddle me this...why is my Syngonium 'rayii'throwing out this vine? Runner? Or whatever you want to call it...
It is growing in a fairly cramped area. One leaf has came out on the new growth and about 3 roots along some other nodes.
Bill is better suited to answer this, but could it be light starved?

We've been trying to solve this mystery for about a week paul. I asked her to start a thread so we can document the way it's growing. I have never seen a syngonium do this. My best guess is that is looking for room to grow, since it was heavily planted there.
Amanda, was the pic of the schismatoglottis you sent me the other day the one that was next to it?

Paul, the lighting is LED and super bright.
Bill, yes and thank you on the compliment. I am still learning so stop trying to shake me from my protégé spot.
I did use fert a for the first time about 2 weeks ago if that makes any difference on how this plant is now growing.
Ferts wouldn't cause it. They would explain a sudden growth spurt, but that's about it.
What flavor ferts are we using?

Isn't florish the one you said may be carried at Pets Mart. They just so happen to have had it in stock and on sale...right across from their crickets.
Flourish is a very good fert. You told me you were ordering florin online. Liar!!

Yeah well...once again...it was on sale and at my finger tips. Oh and how my crypts have loved me for it.
Oh that they will!! Even though they get most of their nutrients via root absorption, they still love sucking in ferts through the leaves and really perk up.

And Hi Amanda!
Guess I know now for sure Bill isn't a Sith Lord. Since they can only have one apprentice at a time. That's a relief.

You can see the leaf the new growth great in this pic, only leaf so far.
Don't be too relieved he is still wicked.
I am sure you and bill saw this but I found a similar article on another site.
They said "common for syngonium. sort of an adult vs immature vegetation. Trim the runners root them back in the main pot will produce the rosetted form"
Hope this helps
