I have a tiny gray tree frog I have raised from a tadpole and has become a full fledged frog within the last week. His tail nub has been gone for the last 3-4 days. I've bought him live cultured fruit flies and have been putting him in a container to feed, as suggested on John's article about Grays, with 3-4 fruit flies. He hasn't eaten anything yet. He might've eaten 1 fruit fly last night (or the fruit fly could've escaped when trying to put them in the container) and tonight, nothing. Before the 1st fruit fly, nothing. I'm really concerned he's going to starve himself to death. What the heck am I doing wrong? Please help!!!
That is a picture of him from last night. He's SUUUPER tiny but he doesn't seem skinny to me. Maybe he doesn't feel ready to really eat yet? Like I said, in the last week (exactly 7 days) he's completely morphed from a 4 legged tadpole into a frog with what seems to me a completely resorbed tail.
you should wait a couple of days before feeding him a good rule of thumb is wait 7 days from the day he has absorbed his tail and then feed
Ok that's great to know! Thanks! I guess it isn't bad though that I've basically been introducing him to his feeding routines so far. Lol.
i have a baby, too. he resorbed his tail sunday into monday and he just started eating yesterday.

I would still attempt to feed every day. He doesn't look too thin, very adorable! He should start eating soon.

That's really great! And yes it is funny, but awesome! I keep telling my friends and family too and they're like "Yeaaaa.....cooolll...." lol.
I have been curious though about the vitamin supplement powder stuff. Do I just put the flies in the feeding area and then sprinkle the powder on them? I would imagine that would get a little messy. Lol. Any pointers?
i use a small bucket. start off with a very clean bucket, sprinkle about a tablespoon of powder in it. then i open the fruit flies over the bucket, get the amount i want, and then close the fruit fly container and gently shake the bucket. then take it to the frog enclosure, and let them crawl out. i usually need to use my finger to nudge them out. some of the powder comes off, but for the most part, they are covered.
i keep the same powder in the bucket and just use it over and over for a while.

Ok that sounds doable. I will certainly try that! Thanks!
