Hi everyone hope you are all well.
I have a little whites tree frog and he has a lovely set up the only problem is I'm unsure how long his light should be on in summer time now that it is that little bit warmer in general.
He has a 25w daylight basking spot lightbulb but at times it goes above 85f which in the long run can't be good. I tend to have it on for 12 hours a day but would he be healthier to have it less than 12h a day and just the heat mat on for longer instead.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks for reading.
Shelly.
You can use LED or just regular energy saving lampthey dont heat up at all.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
12/12 is a good time frame. if you want to simulate seasons, you can drop it to 8 on and 14 off in the winter months, but it's not necessary. the frog can't tell time, all they know is night or day, so it makes no difference to them. if you are keeping live plants, then 12/12 is the way to go for the best health and growth rate of the plants.
