I think they may have deposited eggs yesterday. The were MIA for hours
They are about 1 1/2 years old.
Calling for about 3 months.

From last year's Bufo americanus breeding season. The call is from 2 nights before the picture, but both are from the same part of the pond. It's representative of how I photograph calling toads/frogs. Your presence in the pond tends to shut them up but if you stay still long enough a far away one will start to call. Then the dudes you're right next to realize they might be missing out on the ladies and respond.

In the 'old days' before I picked up a simple voice recorder with built in speaker, I would also stimulate the nearby guys into calling by doing my best toad trill. It worked quite well but now I can both record them and play them back at themselves for encouragement (I'm a toad voice coach in my spare time). It's much easier on the throat and a little less embarrassing.

I have a disc from my Frogwatch class also. I'll have to upload it. Kinda neat. The calls are of local species.

Okay... it took me about an hour to figure out how to turn an .aac into an mp3 add a picture to it and then turn a .wlmp file into a .wmv file to make it acceptable for youtube. It is finally done though and I now have an audio recording of Atlas calling (with a picture of him)
