Hi Colleen/Jerrod! Love the Aurita's color. awesome greens. The mutant pepermint is OK; but will pass on that alien looking one
. Do you know what kind of bacteria attacked your frogs?
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!

No we do not. Even after several lab tests they couldn't pinpoint the exact bacteria causing the infection. I'm not sure if it was due to the bacteria being that good at hiding itself or due to shoddy lab work. I do know what symptoms it has and it is a slow painful death. Causes dermatosepticemia and renal failure which intern causes tetany from phosphorus buildup in the bloodstream and blocking calcium absorption. The muscle spasms are terrible. The frogs will also have dry skin and not be able to shed so the dry skin builds up on them. When soaked the skin falls off like its shredded into tiny pieces. I have no clue where it came from, but adults can last a couple months with treatments, but babies die in 48 hours after infection begins to show.

Wow, sounds like a very bad chronic pathogen. Sorry you guys went through that
. Strange because bacterial attacks tends to be acute. Did the labs checked for viral or fungal presence too?

				Here are some better pictures:
The peppermint:

This one we refer to as the "lipstick." Not to be confused with the lipstick morph that Frog Ranch produces. But the clear skin around her lips look like lipstick!

She also has some clear patches on her belly and clear feet which you can see slightly in the last picture.
And then there is the mutant. I know he looks bizarre, but he is quite a cutie!

Attachment 73390

One of the really cool things about the mutant is that his/her belly is clear so you can actually see the intintestines.
Here are the empty intestines.
And this one is from last night. Clearly someone needs to poop!
All three of them have settled into their new homes and are eating great!

do you think that the immune system of the frog was weakened by the type of mutation?

This is terrible Grif, are you sure though it was bacteria? Did they do cytology and culture?
And i cant see the pics

Something happened when we uploaded them. When we get some time we will fix them.
They did a cytology report. My vet said he isn't going to waste his time with that lab anymore. Will find another. It was bacteria for sure. The problem with bacteria is that it can mutate and become immune to antibiotics. This was a very strong bacteria. Antibiotics would work for a couple weeks and then the frogs would crash and the meds no longer were effective.

This should have been very frustrating for you all. But you said not everybody got infected?

Mutations are not just a loss of information. Some are a gain of information and others are information rearranged in such a way that new traits appear. Of course there can always be adverse affects that follow a mutation. I have no way of knowing what other genetic abnormalities he posesses except what I can see.
His disadvantage is that he can never blend with his environment just like albinos can't. He will also be more sensitive to light than normals and even more so than albinos. Light will be able to pass right through his skin.

Those frogs are so cute! I see Mike's frogs on facebook all the time. I've always wondered though, how do you get them, does he just ship them to you?
