I have 17 of these little ones. I've never had a toad through hibernation. I know I have a bit before then, but I just wanted to be prepared way ahead of time. The picture attached is the biggest one of the bunch.

Keep them inside house and they will be fine. Might slow down eating and metabolism a bit; but should remain active.
If planing to release (legal there); then would do so near a body of water on early-mid Fall. That way they will have a chance to get ready (i.e. bury) for it. Myself do not recommend hibernating or estivating any pet frogs/toads.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Some of my toads go down for up to 7 months during fall to spring, others go down for a few weeks at a time. But then I also take in young ones, raise them until adults, then release them in the back yard. But as for your question, I guess it all depends if you want to keep them or not.
