Gnats in Vivariums

So what is the best way to deal with this? I have considered introducing carnivorous plants to my tanks to help control the pest population.

What is a good terrarium carnivorous plant? what are other ways to help deal with gnats?

I take apple cider vinegar and put it in a small condiment bowl with a drop of dish soap, cover it with saran wrap, and poke a bunch of holes in it. They fly in to get the acv and get trapped in or die in the acv/dish soap mixture. I keep them setting on top of my vivs because they tend to breed in there. They fly out and head for the vinegar mixture. I also wash all plants coming in my house, whether they go into the vivs or not, to try to get rid of any eggs in the soil and replant them.

You could put a carnivore in there, but there's no guarantee it will catch the gnats. The best way to deal with them is make a gnat trap. Take a small, empty water bottle and cut off the too third. Now, you have 2 options here, either put a little sugar water at the bottom, or a few pieces of fruit. Then place the top into the bottom upside down so the neck is facing down. Place it in the tank for a few days and the gnats should be trapped inside the bottle. I like to use the sugar water method because it sort of simulated a nepenthes pitcher plant

I have an invasion at the moment, Bill, I think I will try your way too and see which works better! I've never heard of that one.

It works pretty well. Jeff clued me in on it. But I have used the same method as a snail trap in aquariums.
