I made a new home for my Hyla versicolor and my Hyla cinerea useing a 20 gallon long. Put them all in there and wow are they happy. I put plants , logs , I made a log to go straight across the tank about midddle hight and they love it theres a frog on every purch and in the plants. I think 7 treefrogs in a 20 g long is to many. But I am getting more tanks soon I have an idea for a great treefrog teraium. 2 20 gallon longs on top of each other clamped with screen clamps. Remove the bottom glass from one. Put a screen top on it. You can break it in half to clean. 2 10s would work or 2 anything realy. Put one upside down on top of the other. Remove the bottom glass of the top one and valah.
Mixing species of frogs isn't a wise decision, my friend. Alot of different frogs have different toxins in their skin, and can therefore poison each other. Seeing as all Green Tree Frogs and Gray Tree Frogs are wild caught, they might have diseases and parasites that they can pass to each other. Even though they may exist in the same area, they pretty much would stay away from each other, and probly might get stressed by being in close contact with one another.
Yeah, I agree 7 tree frogs in a 20 gal. is over doing it alot. My suggestion would be to separate both species as to avoid any problems with population and mixing of species. Just my 2 cents, no offense intended.
Instead of smashing two twenty-gallon tanks together, get a Reptarium of similar dimentions. http://www.reptarium.com/
I`ll be getting another 20 gallon long soon and I know that they shouldn`t be together but lots of folks put them in together and they do I encounter each other in the wild so for now it will have to do. There is enough perches in there even now there all separated other then 2 greens on a log together. They seem happier than when the greens were in a 5.5 and the greys were in a 2 gallon hex for one night. I own
3 20g longs
2 10g
1 55
1 40 gallon breeder
1 55g
1 2 gallon hex
1 20g
1 5.5g
tanks I plan to get 3 exotera terrariums and onme more 20g long for my experiment. When I buy the whites this weekend I am getting them and exotera.
You mist them daily.
Oh and if you're going to keep treefrogs in that vivarium, no matter what species, you need a lot more cover (plants and branches).
