ok i have been keeping them in a 10 gallon tank for a month or so until im out then we get more and i used to feed them potatoes and carrots but i want them to eat better food but im not gonna get any special made **** for them i just want some cheap food i can buy in a store like walmart and can they drink tap water have a good day
So you want them to eat better food but don't want to buy it?
Confusing to say the least...
Those special made gutloads are very well balanced and specialy designed for feeding your feeder insects, taking the best care of your animals starts with making sure their food is the best you can provide.., nothing to be cheap abouth if you ask us.
If you realy don't want to use them we believe that variation is verry impotant, as with every living thing that relies on food to stay alive.
You could use most types of vegetables, fruits, fish food, a whole bunch of different types of grains, oats, etc...
And yes, in most cases giving them tap water will be just fine, but using a water conditioner will always be more safe.
Im not exactly sure how crickets can survive on tap water and potatoes for the whole month bt i wouldnt risk feeding them off after eating that. Crickets are very low in nutritional value so literally whatever you put in them will go straight into your frog ( or whoever you are feeding), so being cheap wont do anything here. I personally dont like commercial made food, expensive and im never sure what is it in there, so carrots, lettuce, oranges, other fruits - that is how mine are eating. Water crystals expanded with declor water for a drink.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
no no you didnt hear me i think i meant i dont want to have to buy special cricket food and they dont last a month they last a week if im lucky
Brian, just a friendly word of advice, your posts would read better if you used punctuation. It's hard to figure out exactly what you're asking without it.
I find it easiest to use fresh fruits and vegetables that I already have in the house. That way I'm not buying anything special for the crickets. I do have orange cubes for fluids when I run out of oranges (I have been feeding them all to the orioles lately!)
